Instagram Stories Versus Facebook Stories

Are you looking to grow your Ag business through social media marketing, but can’t keep up with the seemingly never ending changes to social media platforms?

Let’s face it. In this day and age, it pays (quite literally!) to keep up-to-date with the latest in social media marketing. Wright Social invests heavily in Master Minds to keep networked with global leaders in this space!

So, rest assured, we’ve got you covered.

In this blog post, we’ll examine the difference between Instagram Stories and Facebook Stories, so you can better evaluate what they are and how they apply to your social media marketing strategy.

So let’s get down to the basics.

Simply speaking, Facebook and Instagram stories are features that allow your business to post photos and videos that disappear after 24 hours (which you can now archive!). Think of them as micro – content that enable you to stay Top Of Mind (TOM) and interact in a NEW way with your audience!!

So, why does this matter and what does it mean for you?

Firstly, it matters because it’s a feature that is growing highly popular with its users. And when people are engaged it means more potential for eye balls hitting your brand message.

People are actively watching stories – they are intrigued and genuinely interested in the messages being sent via stories.

What this means for you is that there is significant opportunity to take action NOW to connect with your target audience in a way that builds trust, authority and affinity. You have open eyes and open ears. Stories is an underutilized feature – so take advantage of the opportunity while it’s an uncrowded space.

Instagram Stories

Instagram is constantly updating and adding effective tools that allow you to utilise social media to better market your Agribusiness. Instagram Stories allow you to:

  1. Add links to your Stories.

Until recently, businesses were unable to add links directly to their photos and/or videos. Now, the added feature of “swiping up” offers plenty of opportunities for you to market and advertise via Instagram – and particularly, via Instagram Stories.

For example, say you were an Agribusiness interested in social media marketing and wanted to advertise the latest advancement in Ag technology that you’d proudly incorporated into your products.

Instagram allows you to quickly and effectively inform your followers when you create your ‘Story’ in which you can explain your product and invite followers to “swipe up” for a direct link, thus driving traffic and engagement to your website. However, there’s a catch. “Swipe up” is a feature for those with over 10,000 followers.
But there are a few hacks around this.

Creating a video on IGTV is one of them.

Once you’ve created a video on IGTV and added a link to its caption, you can add the link in your Insta Story:
1. Open the Insta Story
2. Tap on the “link” icon at the top
3. Select “+ IGTV Video”, then IGTV video. That’s it!
Your audience can now blissfully “swipe up”, see your video and click on your link in your IGTV caption!
Regardless of CTA features you should always remain focused on growing your audience through regular content that resonates, adds-value and reflects your brand story and benefits.

ONE in FIVE Stories generates a direct message from followers.

  1. Unique and Creative Forms of Engagement.

Instagram Stories give you the option of creating “Polls” which allow you to directly ask questions, and allows followers to vote between the two options.

This is great as it invites followers to feel connected to your rural or agribusiness community, but also provides an insight into exactly what your followers want.

  1. Instagram Stories Feature a Non-disappearing Option

“Story Highlights” allow you to pin your favourite Stories to the top of your page, meaning that they won’t disappear after the expected 24 hour period.

This is useful as it allows you to showcase products or services for longer, and thus gain further traffic and engagement.

Facebook Stories

We all know that Facebook is undeniably the most popular social media platform, with a staggering 1.4 billion daily active users.

But interestingly enough, Facebook Stories aren’t nearly as popular as Instagram Stories.

Although they’re taking longer to take-off, it’s predicted that they eventually will. Plus, businesses were only granted access to Facebook Stories as of October 2017 so there’s still plenty of growing space to navigate!

Now you know what Facebook and Instagram stories are all about. So, should you be using them in your social media marketing strategy?
