5 Instagram Updates You Need To Know in 2022

Instagram has updated its features. So what’s new? What do you need to know as an agribusiness? And more importantly, how can you work these features to boost your agribusiness?

Let us walk you through!

  1. Adding Link Stickers

Are you using Link Stickers? If your agribusiness is not already thinking about ways to drive conversions from your Instagram profile then you should be! The Add Link Sticker means your viewers can go directly to your website, product page, video, blog, or wherever else you’d like to direct them from your Story, instead of going through a link in your bio. You can provide any external link on your Instagram stories by adding a Link sticker. What’s the benefit? You’re making it easy for your audience to engage and take desired action straight off the platform. What’s more, you can select your desired text for the Link Sticker, luring prospective audiences in with a snappy call to action.

  1. Add Yours Sticker

This feature allows you to create a public thread in your Instagram story! How does it work? You simply select the ‘Add Yours Sticker’ feature when you are posting a story, adding your own question or topic. Then, once your followers have viewed it, they can go on and add the sticker to their own story posts, building a library behind the sticker. As you can imagine, this enables your message to spread far and wide, reaching audiences that might not otherwise know of the service or product you offer. But it also invites your community to engage with your agribusiness, to share their stories, and feel connected.

  1. Favourites and chronological posting

After mounting public pressure for Instagram to be more transparent and for users to have greater control over their feeds, the social media platform is experimenting with favourites and chronological posting. A favourites feature would allow users to select who they want to hear from most and prioritise those profiles. Instagram is also toying with the prospect of displaying posts in chronological order, circa 2012. While this might mean posts could get lost in the never ending feed, users will have to select to view their feeds in chronological order every time they login. This means at this stage, it is unlikely to shake things up all that much.

  1. Data Insights for Reels and Live

Knowledge is power, and when it comes to social media and agribusiness, data is knowledge. Instagram now provides analytical insight into both Reels and Live that enable you to make valuable decisions about what is (and isn’t) working with your audience, based on personalised data. For Reels, you can see metrics for plays, accounts reached, comments, shares and saved. And for Live, you can see accounts reached, comments, shares, and peak concurrent viewers. All this information allows you to track performance, so that you can nail down the content that strikes a chord with your agri-rural audience and put the best foot forward for your agribusiness.

  1. Collab in feeds and reels

Do you work with other agribusinesses? Now you can consummate your relationship on Instagram by collaborating with them on feeds and reels. This function allows you to send out invites, each contribute your part to a post, and be seen as a united front to your audience. You can showcase the amazing work that you are doing in your field, and the good company you keep. Agriculture is all about community, so why not bring this into the social media realm?

Bonus: Delete specific photos in Carousel

Have you ever uploaded a carousel, that is a number of photos to the same post, but later wanted to delete one? Up until now, you would have had to delete the whole post. Now, you can delete the select few that are no longer relevant. This means you have greater control over your feed, and don’t have to delete a whole collection of beautiful images out on the field for the sake of one.
