But I was surprised to learn the simplicity of YouTube advertising, specifically placing display ads on YouTube to generate enquiry for your business.
Here’s how you can get started:
- List out the keywords your audience searches on YouTube (Pro Tip: they’re either going to YouTube to learn something, do something or BUY something!)
- Select the right keywords and you’ll increase your chances of helping that audience discover your content!
- Start with 100 keywords and eventually scale this down to 7 top performers.
- Look at the videos that relate to your product or service (Pro Tip: look at complementary products/services or even competing product categories – it’s what your audience is searching to discover your solution that matters).
- Look for videos over 10,000 views – these are worth putting your ad in front of.

Define:
THE PROMISE: What truth can you promise your client or customer?
THE PROBLEM: What problem can your product, service or business solve?
THE SOLUTION: Define a clear simple answer to how you solve the
problem. This is different than the promise. This involves a little “how”.
Elaborate on THE PROBLEM. Who has it? What are the existing inferior solutions?
Next define your audience segments and create the sales argument for each.
Write down your Unique Selling Proposition. Then list the key REASONS TO BELIEVE & SUPPORT your USP.
Now list your offer for each audience segment – what will your audience perceive of value, and what makes sense from a Cost Per Acquisition standpoint?
Once you have defined your customers’ path to purchase you’re ready to build the digital infrastructure to support it, generate the campaign framework and weave in the visual storytelling.
